SSH port forwarding help

I would like to access my LMS outside of my LAN. Currently I have ports 9000 and 3483 on my router redirected to the LMS and everything works fine. However, I'm worried that is not secure and would like to use SSH instead. I don't know much about it though. I've read I can close those ports and redirect port 22 to the LMS and then do something on the server with SSH port forwarding, but I can't figure out what.

My server set up is:

Logitech Media Server Version: 7.7.1 - r33735 @ Mon Nov 28 15:45:08 PST 2011
Hostname: squeezeplug
Server IP Address: 192.168.1.200
Server HTTP Port Number: 9000
Operating system: Debian - EN - utf8
Platform Architecture: armv5tel-linux
Perl Version: 5.10.1 - arm-linux-gnueabi-thread-multi
Database Version: DBD::SQLite 1.34_01 (sqlite 3.7.7.1)
Total Players Recognized: 4

Any help is appreciated.
