Hi all.
I actually posted this over in 3rd party software, but I now realize that this is likely a much better place for it.
I'm currently working to configure an Odroid with the Max2play softwre. This system incorporates Squeezelite and LMS in the same box, and is a wonderful piece of gear. However it's Linux based, and therefore at the absolute mercy of Alsa for choosing and configuring a USB DAC.
The objective, from my point of view, is to get my two different USB DACs working with the Odroid passing a bit-perfect (not resampled) signal to the outside world. This is far from easy, as it seems that each thread on these
From what I've seen, this issue is a stumbling block for a number of people who are new to Linux-based players, and it seems to me that it's reasonable to create a thread that will specifically deal with this issue.
In my case, the Max2play functionality offers a number of options in a drop down box. so my first order of business is choosing which option points to a USB DAC.
Secondly, I need to specify a string that tells Alsa the values of my USB DAC. There's a nice spreadsheet on the Picoreplayer website with strings that have worked for others. However, I'm not having much luck with my Dragonfly.
So first question -- is there a Squeezelite log that I can look into to see why it won't restart when I specify my Dragonfly string as follows: front:CARD=DragonFly,DEV=0 ?
Edit: I have these options to choose from:
Default Dmixer (Alsa dmixer device)
Equalizer
Direct HW No Conversions (dev0)
Direct HW Conversions (dev0)
Direct Sample Dmix (dev0)
Direct HW No Conversions (dev1)
Direct HW Conversions (dev1)
Direct Sample Dmix (dev1)
USB SPDIF
Direct HW No Conversions (USB)
Direct HW Conversions (USB)
Direct Sample Dmix (USB)
I truly have no idea which to use. I tried all options above with the Dragonfly, and none worked. Then I tried my Peachtree Decco... My first instinct in no conversions USB, but it's more likely the dev1 option, as my Peachtree Decco is listed by alsa as:
card 1: DAC [USB Audio DAC], device 0: USB Audio [USB Audio]
Subdevices: 1/1
Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
However none work.
This is truly impenetrable to me, and I'd appreciate any assistance.
Thanks,
Jason
