picoreplayer squeezelite crossfading problem

Hello Forum
I'm currently facing cross-fading issues with Squeezelite's behavior on piCore Player.
Since many years I'm "ReplayGain" tagging my existing audiofiles (mostly flac, mp3 and a few ogg) using foobar2000. As players I'm using several Logitech Players as well as Squeezeplay (7.8.0-r539) on windows PC. On Linux almost all players are migrated to Squeezelite / Jivelite and I'm happy with all of them with one exception:
On piCorePlayer all newer versions than Squeezelite v1.8-658 are showing a strange / annoying behavior.
My settings on LMS for the players are "Crossfade" enabled, "Smart Crossfade" enabled, "Crossfade Duration" set to 10 Seconds. In case the (random title) playlist contains consecutive titles with big differences in "Volume Adjustment"-Tags, let's say -9.76 dB and 0.91 dB and the crossfade starts ~10 seconds before title ends, the following problem occurs:
Right after starting to fade-out the volume is suddely increasing again. My assumption is that Squeezelite is now applying the "Volume Adjustment Level" from the next title also to the title it's currently fading out. So in some situations I face an unexpected (sometimes huge) increase of volume during the already started cross-fade phase.
The only way for me to get rid of this problem is falling back the Squeezelite version to 1.8-658 which is not showing this behavior. As already mentioned I don't have similar issues on any other player then piCore.

Would be good if anyone else could reproduce / fix this issue or maybe give a hint what maybe causes it.
